Steve Harvey was born Broderick Steven Harvey on January 17, 1957 in Welch, West Virginia. The actor, comedian, writer and talk show host is the son of Eloise and Jesse Harvey. Brother to two male siblings and two female siblings, Steve Harvey spent the latter part of his formative years in Cleveland, Ohio where he graduated from Glenville High School. The Harvey family grew up long on love and in economic conditions that taught them how to stretch a short dollar. Comedian Steve Harvey Gets an EducationAfter he graduated from high school Steve attended Kent State University. Jobs the comedian worked before he became a full-time entertainer include selling insurance and running his own carpet cleaning business. According to the official Steve Harvey website, the entertainer started stand up comedy in the mid-1980s. His performances led to a spot as the host of “It’s Showtime at the Apollo.” In 1994 Steve acted in ABC’s television sitcom “Me and the Boys.” Harvey also did some of the writing for the sitcom, his first. The sitcom aired from September 1994 until February 1995. Ratings put the sitcom in the top 20. However it had to compete with more popular sitcoms like “Full House” and “Home Improvement” and was soon pulled off the air. The Steve Harvey Shows Hits TelevisionOne year after “Me and the Boys” folded, Steve Harvey starred in his second sitcom, “The Steve Harvey Show.” The comedic sitcom would run on the Warner Brothers (WB) channel from 1996 through 2002 and earn Harvey national acclaim and put his acting skills on display across millions of American households. WB picked Harvey up for a third sitcom in 2003 when the “Steve Harvey Big Time Challenge,” a variety television show began to air. The variety show ran through 2005. Even while he worked as the feature actor on the television sitcoms, Steve Harvey continued to hit the road and perform standup comedy. In 1997 he toured with a handful of talented male comedians including Cedric the Entertainer, D. L. Hughley and Chicago, Illinois’ own, the late great Bernie Mac. Titled “The Kings of Comedy,” the tour quickly became a nation wide success as people bought tickets and filled large arenas across the country. DVDs of the comedy tour were equally as successful. The Steve Harvey Morning Shows airs from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM on more than 64 markets throughout the United States and pulls in more than 7 million daily listeners. One of the highlights of the talk show is the reading of the daily Strawberry Letter which allows listeners to write in and ask the morning show team for advice about a myriad of issues including marriage, dating, family conflicts and on the job situations. Recent Happenings on The Steve Harvey Morning ShowRecently the morning show team interviewed Toni Braxton, a chart topping rhythm and blues singer who gained popularity in the 1990s.
